Prospective Student Open House & Live Stream

Are you considering becoming part of the comunidad intelectual of the PhD Program in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literatures and Languages at the Graduate Center, CUNY? Join HLBLL faculty and current students on November 4, 2016, for a prospective student open house. For those outside of New York City or unable to attend the event in person, the open house will be live streamed for global, virtual participation.

HLBLL holiday party

Use the hashtag #ApplyHLBLL to tag tweets and Facebook posts before and during the live streaming event to send your questions and comments (in Spanish, Portuguese, or English) for the open house. These will be read during the event so that they can be answered by faculty and students.

RSVP on the Facebook event page to let us know if you will be joining us in person or virtually. The livesteam will be hosted on the Graduate Center’s videostreaming channel.

Immediately following the open house, stay with us in person or on the live stream for an outstanding student-organized colloquium: Escritoras de las Latin-a-méricas. At this second talk in the series, Achy Obejas and Valeria Luiselli will be in conversation with each other and the public about such possible topics as the experience of translation as a cultural exchange in New York, the relation between English and Spanish in both their academic and creative writing careers, the importance of emerging LGBTIQ voices in fiction, the immigrant women’s experience in the U.S., and issues related to women writer’s rights

In the meantime, find out more about our program via our program video, featuring faculty and students from HLBLL! And like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram and Twitter for updates about events and other program news.
